Medal + Fan: The diameter of a basketball rim in 18in. a standard basketball has a circumference of 30in. What is the distance between the ball and the rim in a shot in which the ball goes exactly in the center of the rim?
@563blackghost @legomyego180 Help?
Are you in CA?
Yes, I am @563blackghost
:P I was wondering why your questions look so familiar. Im in CA as well ^^
Oh wow!! What grade/State?
I take Geometry Pre-Ap 10th for TCAH or Texas :)
Find diameter of ball using pie*d =30 than subtract d from 18
Oh cool :) I'm in geometry B right now for 10th in Oklahoma @563blackghost
Use @princeharryyy method.... We are aware of the diameter of the basketball rim but not of the basketball itself so we would find it by placing it into its equation.... \(\Huge{30= 3.14d}\) To simplify you would divide by `3.14`. \(\Huge{\frac{30}{3.14}=d}\)
Thats awesome @Love_333 :)
I got 9.55?
Correct ^^ So sorry my internet is not working right
It's alright! Mines acting up a bit too. So 9.55 would be my answer them?
Then*
Not quite. You would then subtract both diameters and divide by 2... \(\Huge{\frac{18-9.55}{2}}\)
So, 4.225 @563blackghost
Yup ^^
