There are some people on a train...
19 people get off the train at the first stop 17 people get on the train. Now there are 63 people on the train. How many people were on the train to begin with?
I know the answer to this. This problem was just recently in the news and I wanted to give the people of OS a go at it. Was curious what they would come up with.
Don't just agree with someone else's answer please, adults were getting this question wrong. Answer honestly ^-^
Lastly, no cheating ._.
Let \(x\) be the # ppl in the train to start with \(19\) out and \(17\) in to get to \(63\), so \[x-19+17=63\]

Not surprising. Most people are bad at math and don't have number sense.
I have to admit, it took me a bit c; hehe My excuse, however, is lack of sleep and various exhausting physical activities mixed with some dehydration :^)
