Welcome to OpenStudy!

A cheaper box would most likely be cheaper because it requires less material to make.  Thus, a cube with a certain volume would require the least amount of material.  If you were to elongate that box, making it narrower in the process, but keeping the volume the same, you'd find that you were using more material.

This kind of problem is most easily solved using calculus.  Familiar with that?
