OpenStudy (liv1234):

Can someone check my answer please? My answer is A, but I just need someone to double check for me, thank you!(: @mathstudent55 @mrnood

OpenStudy (liv1234):

OpenStudy (mrnood):

The period is the time (x axis) distance between 2 similar points on the periodic function (such as the low spikes) You have correctly counted that=4 Since a is th eonly answer with 4 as the period it seems correct. I am not too sure about the amplitude of non symettrical forms - it is normally the height from 'base to peak' which I would read as 4 in your graph - but that does not correspond with answer a

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Wait, but if 4 is the correct answer for the periodic function, do you think it would be option B? Because the line going down is closest to negative four?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

My best answer would be Period = 4 Amplitude = -4 but that doesn't correspond with your answer. I don't think period CAN be negative

OpenStudy (mrnood):

It implies the pairs are in the order (period,amplitude)

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Which makes me think it is option A because as you said and from what I learnt, the period cannot be negative.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

@MrNood What do you think?

OpenStudy (mrnood):

BUT "Amplitude is the distance from the rest position to the crest position" which is -4 in your case... sorry - I don't see a clear answer here...how can amplitude be 2?
