jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

Why did my SmartScore drop? Let's just have one post to explain to everyone aye? xP Our SmartScores are based on a ranked system: if you are more active in the community than other people of your same score, then you level up. Now that many many of our inactive users (a majority of them 0-30 SS) have been deleted, many users may see their own SmartScore be adjusted to accommodate for this change. This is why many people may see a change in their SmartScores. No need to fret though! Continue to give and get help and you SmartScore will rise back up in no time! ^_^

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

Calculations are still being done (which is why there may be lag still).

OpenStudy (instagrammodel):

Thats why mine droped! I was like " what just happened" XD

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

I'm trying to think of a better way to explain this ^_^" So for example, IF you were level 45 and everyone 0 to 30 was deleted, there are now less people under you and you might drop to level 8-15 the higher level you are, the further away you are from the 0-30 displacement and so the less you would be affected. That would explain why some people's scores have changed more than others. And I'm *not* saying that everyone 0-30 was deleted - many many people just happen to make accounts and then never come back, which is why there had been so many inactive accounts in that range.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

How can you get your score back? If your account was deleted, please email contact@openstudy.com with your restoration request. If your SmartScore simply dropped, all you have to do is continue to give and get help and be active in our community - your score will rise back up in no time! :)

OpenStudy (dylan_boss):

in no time? it took me forever to get up now I'm 40... how dumb

OpenStudy (jabez):

0-55 is easy. 56-68 is easy-ish. 69-75 is a bit harder. 76-90 is SUPER hard. 91-99 is pretty easy. :) It just all depends on how much you help out in the Community and how many people you help. Here is how to raise your SmartScore. :) To raise your Engagement: 1 ) Ask questions and get medals on the questions you asked. BUT! That does not mean to medal spam. To raise your Problem Solving: 1 ) Help people. 2 ) Explain the answers a lot and don't give direct answers. 3 ) It also goes up when you get a medal from the person you have helped which can be given by clicking on, "Best Response." Still, that means DO NOT medal spam. :) To raise your Teamwork: 1 ) Earn fans. 2 ) Earn fan testimonials. 3 ) Chat in the chat boxes below. 4 ) It also goes up when you help people. :D 5 ) Also goes up when you invite your friends to OpenStudy! :D Again, do not spam yourself with fans and testimonials. :) ~ jabez177

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

@jabez177 now that so many accounts are deleted, we're not really sure how easy "0-55" is anymore.

jabez177 (jabez177):

Okay. Just keep on Helping others and getting to know your peers and you'll be back up in no-time! :)

OpenStudy (preetha):

Jigglypuff is the best! I couldn't have aid it better!

OpenStudy (rebecca):

@logan13 if help out, your ss will go back to normal.

OpenStudy (logan13):

go ahead delete my comment but i would like to say you just ruined peoples hard work

OpenStudy (rebecca):

everyones in the same boat, complaining wont help us nun.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

You can feel free to express your contempt for this new update @logan13 ^_^ we just ask that you refrain from including vulgar language, although we do understand that this has been a set back for many many people, we're sorry.

OpenStudy (logan13):

Okay captain america

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Very smart move to remove the inactive from the server I must say! Will help the smoothness etc of the site considerably.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

I myself am fine with the "demotion". Only things I regret have lost is my fans, testimonials and medals.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

The admins can replace that. We have seen that when satellite73's account was deleted, the admins restored his account. :) \(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @jigglypuff314 How can you get your score back? If your account was deleted, please email contact@openstudy.com with your restoration request. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\)

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Darn I was hoping to take his spot as the 100 ;p

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

If it is only the SS restored I'm fine, although if it's the people who fanned you and testimonials etc, I wouldn't mind. I'll send them a request later on, as of right now I need to finish my summer classes and do the laundry ._.

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

76-99 was easy 65-67 took me the most time

OpenStudy (rebecca):

50-75 and 75-85 took me the longest

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

79 took me the longest I believe. Maybe it was 69 but it was one of those x9s.

alones (alones):

@AloneS. Here, "Accounts deletion? I don't understand......" Read it, and maybe u'll ge tthe point.

OpenStudy (alones.):

Thanks!

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

*has no idea what just happened there and took me about 5 minutes to notice they were two different accounts*

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

Lets explain this even better, your smartscore is relative to the person with 100 in that catagory (or the main one) You gain points with each fan, these points are calculated into a percentile based off of the person with 100 in that area, when the mass deletion occured, they where forced to unfan you, meaning as a result it caused you to lose points, and with enough fans, it adds up a lot! But think of how much satellite lost! so at the same time it actually helped you gain smartscore! else you would have PITFALLED MUCH MUCH more.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

well there goes satellite making me look bad... he freaking gained smartscore points... leave it to satellite to gain smartscore when everyone loses it lmbo

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

tbch the way they calculate percentiles is stupid, they try to calculate everyones and store it, instead store the users points, and change it based on events, then on the fly have a function to calculate smartscore relative to the highest users points /shrug

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Everyone still has the same points. The scale used for converting the points to smartscore changed.

OpenStudy (openstudyissoawesome):

So it will be slower to move up then @TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (milkncookies):

This is ridiculous...

alones (alones):

It is, cuz milk came here, not even reading the whole thing.

OpenStudy (milkncookies):

Yeah ain't no body got time for that..

OpenStudy (milkncookies):

All I know is my smart score was like 66, Mmmhpf take me another year to get that back.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

Interesting...I was wondering why one of my Subscores lowered. Thanks Jiggly!

OpenStudy (teapea):

I'm sorry to be a negative Nancy, and correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't you have emailed the accounts with a warning at least, in case they wanted to save their accounts? I understand what positive effects it would have on the site, but many people who are coming to openstudy to get help and answers now can't because old questions were deleted. Since my account was deleted I was having a lot of trouble getting into Openstudy.

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

@teapea |dw:1463713750795:dw| |dw:1463713881645:dw| |dw:1463713936254:dw| |dw:1463714000465:dw|

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

ganesh gained as well @jaynator495

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

Also, "many people who are coming to openstudy to get help and answers now can't because old questions were deleted" - None of the that content had been deleted. They have all been transferred to http://openstudy.com/users/anonymous No questions or answers have been lost in this process :)

OpenStudy (photon336):

so, to keep our SS at a certain we must remain active?

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

somewhat so, if you are at 99, been there for a solid amount of time, u should be safe @Photon336

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

I just noticed Jim is now 99 o.o

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

jim has always been at 99, just when satellite got deleted he went up, as satellite got restored, jim went down @FortyTheRapper

rvc (rvc):

Thank you jiggly for taking ur precious time to explain us about the recent changes which occurred due to the system update i guess. Thank u so much :) @jigglypuff314

OpenStudy (heyyyyitsholly):

^^^^^^took the words out of my mouth! Thanks Jiggy!

OpenStudy (fuzzybird):

yeah mine was 60 and it dropped 12. I was so confused lol

OpenStudy (roxy.girl):

I get it know. XD

OpenStudy (jabez):

Oh oh! I got another!! This was 51 and it went to 38! How about we stop saying what we lost and help others to get it back! :)

OpenStudy (just_one_last_goodbye):

Thank you @jigglypuff314 :D even though the posts are still being posted thank you for your efforts to make the community understand.

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

Wooooow, really lol

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @TheSmartOne Everyone still has the same points. The scale used for converting the points to smartscore changed. \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) speak for yourself, i lost over 60k points x'D

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

candycove (candycove):

Thanks, Emily!

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

um guys.. i have a question :( :( why did my SS go down!?????

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Read the post.

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

That flew over one's head

OpenStudy (hyperlunatic):

Thank you jigglypuff.

OpenStudy (some.random.cool.kid):

What do you mean by easy? how dumb this sounds... what a weird post... It takes forever in prestige 60 to rank up.. and im less active so it takes twice as long for me. Being positive is cool, lieing is another thing. please delete that post.

OpenStudy (milkncookies):

Gg.

eclipsedstar (eclipsedstar):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @some.random.cool.kid What do you mean by easy? how dumb this sounds... what a weird post... Being positive is cool, lieing is another thing. please delete that post. \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) People aren't lying when they say that growing in ss is easy...I got 55ss within hours of joining. Anyways, this site was created to help others, not getting a higher rank. The ss is only in place to show how experienced a user is in using the site, that's all. No need to claim that others' views are dumb. x)

563blackghost (563blackghost):

What @jigglypuff314 informed about the smart score was quite helpful I was wondering why my ss went down and now I know why... Thank you @jigglypuff314

umerlodhi (umerlodhi):

My ss dropped like the bass

OpenStudy (quinnlover):

well that still sucks??? I would like my ss back to normal.. ;(

OpenStudy (some.random.cool.kid):

its not about that @eclipsedStar ... he/she is giving people a false hope knowing its not true... It is just positivity. It is flawed statement becuase we are supposed to set the right example... honesty is key here.

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @umerlodhi My ss dropped like the bass \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) if it dropped like the bass, then what song are you listening to, get me in on some of that bass LOL

jaynator495 (jaynator495):

i agree with some random kid... it really isnt easy depending upon how you use the site

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

There were a lot of inactive users. Probably more inactive ones than there were that use the site daily. With the SS system taking all users into account...all those users that are gone were the bottom. Now that they are gone, the system is adjusting as @jigglypuff314 said. Now we're becoming the bottom :P Gotta build our way up.

OpenStudy (adonine):

My smartscore was 59 and it went down to 37 the other day

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

It's kind of like if you have 10 people running a race. There is a person in 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place, with 7 runners behind them. What happens when suddenly those 7 runners go *poof* ? 3rd place becomes the bottom :P

myininaya (myininaya):

@countryboy15 I think this is what you are referring to....

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

how does that make sense, there are still like 85 runners behind them, if we directly translate xD @ShadowLegendX

OpenStudy (countryboy15):

yeah but i lost my account

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

10 people running a race..

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @jigglypuff314 How can you get your score back? If your account was deleted, please email contact@openstudy.com with your restoration request. \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\)

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):

We just had a massive loss of users. Once new people come and create a new bottom, points wise, we will RISE >;3

OpenStudy (countryboy15):

okay but how will it work this is my account i lost i remade it same name

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Like Jiggly said, once more: "If your account was deleted, please email contact@openstudy.com with your restoration request."

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

@Pawanyadav

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

<<@jabez177 You'll get back to 99SS in no time! :) >> @jabez177 pardon for your derange here - but i not cans ending to nobody message -so i write this style - sorry - my submit button was blocked so and again is inactiv too,so you sent me a message with this text above wrote ,copied from your message - do you know or get something new informations about profile and SS deleted that will be in short time rearranged back or something in this way ? thank you for your reply, answer ! jhonyy9

jabez177 (jabez177):

Ahh... @nbarrera_t, do you have any use on this users account? The ss and etc. got destroyed

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

@jabez177 ty. so do you know and believe that what you sent me there in your message in a short time will be giving me back same how this was ? ok i believe it same with you and so much OS. helpers who couraged me that all will be nice like before just i need waiting some time - ok. just a little question about this so how will i know when my past profile was reopened and i can use it newly same before ? and again something that what will be with this smart score and ... hwat i have now presently in my this second profile what i was necessary opened it about my past profile was deleted (accidentaly - supposed - how wrote me @TheSmartOne ? so can getting answered this questions please ? thank you - jhonyy9

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

May I ask what you mean by medal spamming? I tend to give out medals to people who have answered someone else's question with a response I've checked over and agree with, or if I find their explanation thorough and impressive. Would this be considered medal spamming?

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

nope @pottersheep

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

medal spamming is artificially inflating your stats by giving yourself medals with alt accounts, or by asking someone to just give u medals, and on unreasonable ones, such as direct answers, random posts, etc, @pottersheep

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

Oh, that makes sense. Thank you for clarifying @ILovePuppiesLol
