Is there an error in this chain rule problem?

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

It seems to me that they should not have changed the ^-1/2 to positive. I mean, it is just the chain/quotient rule.

geerky42 (geerky42):

^-1/2 itself is the mistake. \(\dfrac x{\sqrt{x^2+1}}=\dfrac x{(x^2+1)^{1/2}}\)

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

THANK you! It was bothering me big time.

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Makes me feel like I actually understand if I spot an error in the solutions manual!

geerky42 (geerky42):

sorry I am lagging, and you are welcome.
