Will medal! Find the measure of angle x. Round your answer to the nearest hundredth. (please type the numerical answer only)
you will need a calculator/trig tables
I have a calculator with me but I am unsure of how to solve for the algebra. I've set up my problem to be tan X = 8/17 but I don't know how to solve it from there.
i dont think you can solve it from there manually. your calculator should have a \(tan^{-1}\) function x=\(tan^{-1} (8/17) \)
woops, 17 is the hypotenuse tan=opposite/adjacent (not hypotenuse)
Oh my goodness. So sin x = 8/17, that was my bad. Comprehension error.
yes sin and use the \(sin^{-1}\) function on your calculator
I did 8/17 and then I did sin-1 and got 28.07
make sure your calculator is in degrees and not radians
and preferably, dont do 8/17 first, just press sin^-1 and put (8/17) in brackets because you might get rounding off errors
I'm just using my iPhone calculator because I don't have a fancy scientific one, unfortunately. But would 28.07 be close enough (if that is the right answer)? If not I can always have my teacher go in and change the grade if the answer isn't good enough for the computer's grading system (so long as I get a close answer) :P
yep, i get 28.07 too :)
Thank you so much!
you're welcome :D
