OpenStudy (tomfoolery1):

A card is drawn from a well-shuffled deck of 52 cards. Find P(drawing an ace or a 9). 7 2/13 7/26 13/2

OpenStudy (rebecca):

How many aces and 9's are in the deck. Hint: 4 of each card.

OpenStudy (tomfoolery1):

8! =)

OpenStudy (rebecca):

8/52 then simplify.

OpenStudy (ineedhelplz):

In statistics the word or always means to add and the word and always means to multiply. So it says an ace OR a six. so find the probability of each and add them together. 4 aces out of 52 cards 4 sixes out of 52 cards so 4/52 + 4/52 = 8/52 8/52 reduces to 2/13

OpenStudy (rebecca):

Please let her figure it out. This is her work. We want to make sure she understands. Thanks.

OpenStudy (sparrow2):

@Rebecca but you gave her the direct answer.if you wanted her to figure out you should have gone through step by step

OpenStudy (tomfoolery1):

No your explanation "inneedofhelpz" was perfect! That kind of transparency helps a lot! replacing the numbers with other ones is also helpful! in doesn't feed me the answer just familiarizes me with the formula. =D

OpenStudy (ineedhelplz):

^-^

OpenStudy (rebecca):

She said 8 and there were 52 card. Therefore 8 outta 52. I asked her to simplify.

OpenStudy (sparrow2):

you gave the answer and then asked ti simplify, never mind :) just let others help as they can

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

Everyone stop pointing fingers :P

OpenStudy (rebecca):

Okay. My apologies @sparrow2

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

If something is wrong, just report and let moderators handle it, don't go into things yourself, it never ends well unless both sides are humble.

OpenStudy (sparrow2):

@Rebecca it's ok. :)

OpenStudy (puppies):

That will be all for this post, please do not spam it any further, thanks guys :)

OpenStudy (tomfoolery1):

Hahaha thanks all around you guys! Math is a vicious jungle sometimes XD

OpenStudy (puppies):
