Which of these statements is written using passive voice? They earned about $1,000 at their fundraiser. Their fundraising on Friday raised about $1,000. They were given about $1,000 in the fundraiser. Their hard work led them to $1,000 in donations.
What do you think?
I honestly don't know...
The passive voice is a grammatical construction (specifically, a "voice"). The noun or noun phrase that would be the object of an active sentence (such as Our troops defeated the enemy) appears as the subject of a sentence with passive voice (e.g. The enemy was defeated by our troops).
Is it the second sentance
Yes my computer is freezing. :(
i meant the third one
Actually, I re-read it and I don't agree with @peytonrychtik. I think the answer is D because the passive voice is used when we want to emphasize the action (the verb) and the object of a sentence rather than subject. This means that the subject is either less important than the action itself or that we don’t know who or what the subject is. My laptop was stolen. (The object – now the subject = My laptop / action= was stolen)
@Roxy.girl What do you think is the answer?
Bingo!
so its the last one?
I'm not 100% sure, but I think so.
