OpenStudy (skarletfox):

If an object is dropped from a height of 144ft, the function h(t) = -16t^2 + 144 gives the height of the object after t seconds. When will the object hit the ground?

OpenStudy (wcrmelissa2001):

am i right to interpret this as when h(t)=0 the object has hit the ground

OpenStudy (wcrmelissa2001):

if h(t) is the height right, then when the object hits the ground there will be no height, aka height =0. So when h(t) =0, 0=-16t^2+144 16t^2=144 t^2=9 t=+9 or -9 (rejected since time>0)

OpenStudy (skarletfox):

@wcrmelissa2001 Well. the options are: 1.5s 3s 6s or 9s
