Medals! For the functioon defined by: f(x)=[x^2 x ≤1 2x+1 x>1] Evaluate f(0)   A. Identify the function that will be used when x = 0.     B. Find the value of this function when x = 0.

OpenStudy (jh99):

I can't understand what A and B is asking me. They want me to insert 0 for x? Then what?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

0 is < 1 so which function do you use?

OpenStudy (jh99):

Is this asking me is I should use a linear function?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

check the function in the question - which one is to be used for finding f(0) - is it x^2 or 2x + 1?

OpenStudy (jh99):

I think x^2?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes right so replace x by 0 in x^2 and you'll get the answer.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

- the answer to B.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the answer to A is x^2
