RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

Hello! My name is Rhonda, and I have some concerns. Why is it that people can make birthday posts and posts on major holidays and it's not considered spam, yet when I make a post on smaller holidays it's considered spam? All posts that are "off topic" are supposed to be spam. So why are B-day posts, holiday posts, and SS score congrats allowed?

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

I treat all of them the same now

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

on atsies post you didnt...

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

or elsas post

Elsa213 (elsa213):

Hmm?

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

Cause sometimes i get lazy and go with the flow, as they say, the whole point is that posts like yours would stray off topic insanely quickly, and was not realy meant for anything, like national turtle day, it makes people think you are just making the post to troll

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

lol ok, but regardless, its considered spam. if your gonna yell at me about having a Happy National post, should you make sure you are living up to code first?

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

There will be no discussion here, this topic had already been dated upon and decisions will not change, please close this post before it gets out of hand, further concerns can be discussed in PM with a moderator

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

It depends on who makes the post, I think

Elsa213 (elsa213):

No @FortyTheRapper :3 Anyone can make a post.

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

I an simply tired of repeating the same thing to all the posts

Elsa213 (elsa213):

They can't create a "spam post" though.

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

No further discussions here please, take this to PM

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

And some get a warning, some get congratulated

Elsa213 (elsa213):

I will PM you, @FortyTheRapper . :)

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

Fair enough, I guess

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

Well small holidays are everyday like you said http://prntscr.com/b7l7m8 which means that free, underserved medals will be passed around. Which is considered a medal party. Also think about it, when others seeing you do it, what will they think? Free easy medals? They will wanna do it too, causing a large amount of spam that can be avoided. The mods have already discussed this, they have came to the conclusion that small holidays should not be posted. An obvious reason, is that these small holidays happen everyday, and heck you posted 6 holidays for 1 day cx meaning that everyday (if the rule wasn't there) there would be many posts celebrating those. They are already pushing the limits with birthdays and major holidays. When a os user is born or Christmas have way greater meaning than turtle day or mid-wife day. Which is why it is allowed. Also ss, is to congratulate others on their great achievements. Receiving 75, 90, and 99 takes a lot of hard work and dedication, does it not? Those individuals should be getting a celebration for there contribution to the site. Which is why other fellow os'ers give them a pat on the back. But any post like congrats on 66 or congrats for 88 or congrats for 1000 fans is a spam. Which im sure you already know. Overall i know what you mean, please don't shoot the messenger. I'm just explaining part of the reasons behind why it isn't allowed. So lets have faith in our mods, and follow the rules. Let's set a good example.

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

^^ If i put that much effort into my essays for English i would have an A lel. Smh.

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

We all have been made spam posts, puppies included. But the mods have decided, we must follow. We must admit that some get harsher than others but that's just based on their actions. Someone that continues to disobey/argue with CoC vs. someone is nice and caring to the others but just had a spam slip up. So of course some are gonna get it easier than others, but all will be told the same rules. In the end reports will be filed to all who spam, even if they aren't directly told in the post. Everyone makes mistakes, that we all know, so their are others just trying to help you out. Like pups he may sound a bit harsh but he means well. ^-^

OpenStudy (fortytherapper):

Oh, so like when their is a major holiday, instead of one person making the post for some medals, 12 people make the post for medals

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

@FortyTheRapper To add to that, there was once day where someone made a small holiday post and 4 others followed. Mods came got it all sorted out, there has been other arguments caused by these posts. Where mods have to come and resolve it. The mods shouldn't have to babysit us. We should be following the rules that are given. This rule just saves the mods time, energy, and clash to handle.

OpenStudy (hectoroftroy):

In the Good Old Days, the OpenStudy Feedback group was for that: OpenStudy Feedback. It was awesome. Then a few birthday/OS achievement shout-outs/holidays got allowed. Then a few more got allowed. Some of it has to do with self promotion: "Isn't OpenStudy Great!" looks better in commercials and marketing material than discussions about IP bans, tutorials and community structure. And now there is very little in this forum that is actually constructive OpenStudy Feedback and suggestions. Hmmm.

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

That the sad truth..

OpenStudy (zale101):

Please keep holiday celebrations, smart score shutouts, and birthday shout outs to a minimum. When someone posts "Happy Mother's day" in one post, there's no need to go make another one of your own. When someone says "Happy Birthday Preetha" there's no need to make a another post of your own. When someone makes a post about a certain users Mod, Ambieship, or b-day post, no need to make another post of your own. Again, please keep it at a minimum. Thanks.

OpenStudy (zale101):

Always keep in mind that Openstudy feedback section is for questions related to get help to fix some technical problems. For example, if something went wrong with an account. Or give ideas and feedback about what would you like to see on Openstudy.

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

If u make a spam post unknowningly, its all good if we tell u to close it and u close it, the only problem is when we tell people its spam and they should close it and they decide to argue since they love to be right about everything, then its bad, if we make mistakes wether u like it or not just own up to it and people will forgive u, simple

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

And rebecca why do u gotta include me xD

jabez177 (jabez177):
