Try deleting your browser history and reloading OS again.

Not a bug, the images fail to load, and its not trying to fetch a new image as that would slow it down.

you say a different browser looked the same? OS probably had issues fetching those images at the time, or your internet connection bombed... or you have images blocked by a external app, theres quite a few things that could cause it ._.
