1. A model is made of a car. The car is 9 feet long, and the model is 10 inches long. What is the ratio of the length of the car to the length of the model? (1 point) 54:5 10:9 9:10 5:54

OpenStudy (peachpi):

the first thing you have to do is put the measurements in the same unit. How many inches is 9 feet?

OpenStudy (togundeji):

There would be a total of 108 inches in nine feet. @peachpi

OpenStudy (peachpi):

ratio of car length to model length means \[\frac{ car~~length }{ model~~length }=\frac{ 108 }{ 10 }\] reduce to lowest terms

OpenStudy (togundeji):

10.8? I divide 108 with 10. @peachpi

OpenStudy (peachpi):

well, you don't really want to divide, only reduce the fraction. 108 and 10 are both even, so you could divide them both by 2

OpenStudy (togundeji):

I divide 108 with 2 = 54 I divide 2 with 10 = 5 So would the answers be A?

OpenStudy (peachpi):

right

OpenStudy (togundeji):

Thank you @peachpi

OpenStudy (peachpi):

you're welcome
