FAN TESIMONIAL AND MEDAL! Minh owns a restaurant that has geometric art designs on the floor that were created by her brother Marco. The designs have been very popular among the customers, and Minh is considering adding designs to her ceiling. Minh has only painted one geometric design on her ceiling when she realizes she needs help. She asks Marco for advice and assistance. 1.Minh wants to add another graphic on the ceiling. She has a pentagon ABCDE located at A(4, 9), B(6, 7), C(6, 4), D(3, 4), and E(2, 6). To make the other pentagon, Minh wants to reflect pentagon ABCDE over the y-axis.

OpenStudy (ittybitty14):

Next, she wants to dilate it by a factor of 2, using the origin as the center of the dilation. Finally, she wants to translate it 15 units down and 2 units right to get the location of the final graphic. What is the location of the new graphic? Show your work.

OpenStudy (ittybitty14):

@Abhisar can you please help me?

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

first start with a reflection over the y-axis

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

it is like you fold the paper into two at the y axis your shape will be then copied over the otherside

OpenStudy (ittybitty14):

Okay then what do I do? I have a terrible time with graphs!

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

sorry i had a lagging with website

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

this is what happens at first

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

|dw:1464192207443:dw|

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

not perfect but that's how it should look

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

next step is reducing each side by a factor of 2

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

that means each length will be smaller twice than it was before

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

you need your graph sheet to do this in a correct way I'm just giving you an idea here

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

|dw:1464192492175:dw| it will smaller like this

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

the last part is translation you gonna move each vertex 5 unites down and 2 units up

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

one second I'm doing the graph lol

OpenStudy (ittybitty14):

so will it be at the point 4? I get really confused with these! x_x

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

you get something like this http://prnt.sc/b8bqlk

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

it seems that i need more units to make the shape you need to work this out on a piece of graded paper and do some calculation. doing on online seems little difficult

OpenStudy (ittybitty14):

okay! so it between 4 and 2?

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

I mean grid paper lol*

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

there are not asking you between what and what just draw the wanted shape

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

and it is not btw 4 and 2 look at down the graph there another part I draw each part with a different color to distinguish the steps
