OpenStudy (faithspring):

Simplify. Write the answer in scientific notation. 3. 8(32 x 10^11)

OpenStudy (photon336):

could probably re-write this as \[(8*10^{0})*(3.2*10^{12})\] then multiply 8 by 3.2 and add the exponents. @faithspring

OpenStudy (faithspring):

But what you put isn't even the question

OpenStudy (photon336):

when we multiply like bases we add the exponents so \[25.6*10^{12}\] but remember in scientific notation the number must be less than 10 so what would it be?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I think that scientific notation means this: \[2.56 \times {10^{13}}\]

OpenStudy (photon336):

you would change it by moving a decimal place one over which you would end up getting \[2.56*10^{13}\]
