Crime increased during the Victorian era because nearly everyone was poor. This made people desperate to get money for necessities such as food and shelter, so they had to steal and sometimes even kill for money or food.

one of the causes of increasing crimes is that some people would be desperate for food and shelter and the only way that they would get that is by doing inforbideen actions such us stealing, just like what happened during the Victorian era.
