OpenStudy (annalee607):

What is the lateral area of the rectangular prism? Round the answer to the nearest whole number. Assume 5 m*7 m rectangles on the left and right are the bases. The diagram is not drawn to scale.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

For any rectangular prism, with sides of base a,b , and height c. Then lateral area = 2c(a+b) (=sum of four rectangles that contain the height c). For this problem, the base is 5\(\times\)7, so a=5, b=7, c=16. Plug in above formula for lateral area.

OpenStudy (annalee607):

384

OpenStudy (annalee607):

is that it?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

384 is correct, that's it. But try to remember the formula for other problems! :)
