OpenStudy (scienceteen8):

You mix the letters M, A, T, H, E, M, A, T, I, C, A, and L thoroughly. Without looking, you draw one letter. Find the probability P(A). Write the probability as: a. a fraction in simplest form b. a decimal c. a percent

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

How many letter "A"'s are there? How many letters are there in total?

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

There are 3 letter A's. There are 12 letters in total.

OpenStudy (scienceteen8):

yea i was about to put that

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

We would say "3 out of 12 letters are A" And express that as probability of 3/12. or 1/4.

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

Then put 1/4 into your calculator, and you'll get the decimal. It should be 0.25. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (scienceteen8):

yes thank you

OpenStudy (pottersheep):

No problem.
