The diameter of a circular garden is 16 feet. What is the approximate area of the garden? A. 50 square feet B. 100 square feet C. 201 square feet D. 803 square feet

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Hello ^_^ Do you know the formula for area of a circle?

OpenStudy (toxicwaste):

not really its confusing to me:(

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

That's okay :) The formula is A = \(\pi r^2\). So we have the diameter, do you know how to find the radius from the diameter?

OpenStudy (toxicwaste):

no but what is

OpenStudy (toxicwaste):

pi gamma?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

To find the radius given the diameter, we just divide the diameter by 2

OpenStudy (toxicwaste):

so 201

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

We need to use pi * radius^2

OpenStudy (toxicwaste):

The diameter is 16 so the answer would be 201

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

The answer is 201, but do you understand how to get there?

OpenStudy (toxicwaste):

kinda
