OpenStudy (alexandrea.lane):

You are wrapping a present for a birthday party. The box has a length of 12 ft., a width of 6 ft., and a depth of 3 ft. Determine the least amount of wrapping paper that would be needed to cover the gift. Show all work and provide proper units with your solution.

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

You need to find the surface area

OpenStudy (alexandrea.lane):

What's the surface area formula? @horsegirl27

OpenStudy (majikdusty):

The surface area equation is 2(wl+hl+hw) for any rectangular prism. Basically you are finding the surface area of each side of the box and adding it together!

OpenStudy (majikdusty):

w is width, l is length, and h is height in case you didn't know what i meant. You will sometimes see the formula replace w, l, and h with a, b, c. These mean the same thing.
