OpenStudy (watermelon14):

if f(x)=x^2-6 and g(x)=2^x-1 (g*f)(-3)

OpenStudy (watermelon14):

the answer is 7 but i don't get why

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Does g*f mean g times f or g composite f?

OpenStudy (watermelon14):

times

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Did you calculate g times f?

OpenStudy (watermelon14):

well don't know, am I suppose to mult g(x) and f(x) together first?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

You can do it either way. You can find the f(-3) and the g(-3) and multiply the answers or you can calculate g times f and evaluate the result when x = -3

OpenStudy (watermelon14):

so i can plug in -3 to the x's in both f(x) and g(x)?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes

OpenStudy (watermelon14):

but when i did that i got 13.125
