@welshfella can you help me with this one please ?
OpenStudy (welshfella):
this is the same problem as the previous one except the values are different
first solve 1/2 x + 2 = x - 10
then plug the value of x into 1/2 x + 2
OpenStudy (jasbe):
ok @welshfella

You can do it!

I'm not getting any of the answers , i got -4 the first time and 8 the second time. @welshfella
OpenStudy (welshfella):
1/2 x + 2 = x - 10
subtract 1/2 x from both sides
1/2 x - 1/2 x + 2 = x - 1/2 x - 10
2 = 1/2 x - 10
add 10 to both sides
2 + 10 = 1/2 x - 10 + 10
12 = 1/2 x
Now multiply both sides by 2 to get the value of x
OpenStudy (welshfella):
2 * 1/2 x = x right?
OpenStudy (welshfella):
and 12 * 2 = ?

24 @welshfella
OpenStudy (welshfella):
right x = 24
so plug x = 24 into x - 10 ( because thats easier than 1/2 x + 2) and work it out.
OpenStudy (jasbe):
24-10 = 14 @welshfella
OpenStudy (welshfella):
correct That your answer:- QR = 14
OpenStudy (jasbe):
Thank you , you actually really helped me ! @welshfella
