In general, median is a better measure of data (than the mean) when there are extreme values that do not seem to belong to the dataset. Sometimes we call them outliers. This is because average (mean) takes into account of every piece of data, including the outliers. Outliers affect the mean in such a way that the mean is not a good measure of central tendency any more. Medians take into account of the central values, exactly what central tendency is about. To find the answer (check all that apply). Examine each data set and look for outliers. For example, in 4,5,8,10,13,99. 99 is an outlier.
