mars has a thinner atmosphere so mars cannot hold mass amounts of oxygen like earth can it all just goes out into space.
One advantage is that mars has a lot more area to set up residence.
one disadvantage is that mars has soil that has a bunch of iron which would make it extremely difficult to plant and grow food.
you would need anenery friendly vehicle, a large supply of oxygen, and very good communications system.
