Strictly speaking, you must enclose each set of x- and y-coordinates inside parentheses: (1, 1) and 2, 4 and 3, 7 and 4, 9 and 5, 12 and (6, 16) for starts. In the Draw utility, below, set up coordinate axes and plot these 6 points. Draw a line (which we'd call a regression line) through the points, in such a way as to have approx. the same number of points on each side of your line. What is the approx slope of your line? From this slope you can estimate what the approx. correlation coeff. is for this set of data.
