The key thing here is to use the perimeter formula and setup an equation

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Remember the formula for perimeter of rectangle?

OpenStudy (thereisnousername):

Let width = x Let length = x + 2 The formula to find the perimeter of a rectangle is given to be: P = 2L + 2W The perimeter is 24ft. 24 = 2(x + 2) + 2(x) 24= 2x + 4 + 2x 24 = 4x + 4 24 - 4= 4x 20 = 4x 20/4 = x 5 = x so now that we know the width is 5, we multiply by2 to get the length which would give us 10 width:5 length:10

OpenStudy (thereisnousername):

oops I mean add by 2!! sorry the length is 7
