Well, a participle is a word formed from a verb. Sweating would not be the answer because it's describing runners which is a verb. It has to be B.

I googled the question and answer choices and every link that cam up with the exact same question and answer said that sweating was the answer.

How do you know that answer is true? Its better to look at the definitions and try to solve this problem with the user.
