Could someone help me work through this problem? Taylor is looking for a used car. Taylor would like it to have a working air conditioner and less than 75,000 miles. Of the 200 cars ads they perused, 70% have less than 75,000miles. Of these low-mileage cars 65% had a working air conditioner. Of the cars with more than 75,000 miles, only 40% had a working air conditioner.
a) Make a table or tree diagram to show the data. b) What is the probability that a car looked at has low mileage and a working air conditioner. c) What is the probability that a car has a working air conditioner.

That would be wonderful!
ok... here we go. I chose to set up a table, because I'm not sure what the tree would look like, and I can't draw worth a darn...
The table: |dw:1464904261967:dw|
Then, the information that's given: "Of the 200 cars ads they perused, 70% have less than 75,000miles." Total number of cars = 200 Number of cars with less than 75k miles = 70% of 200 = 140 This number goes in the totals column for less than 75k |dw:1464904465087:dw|
Then because we know that 200 cars were looked at, we can deduce that 60 cars were over 75k miles because 200 - 140 = 60 |dw:1464904547472:dw|
Thank you so much
no problem :)
Then the next sentence: Of these low-mileage cars 65% had a working air conditioner. from the previous step we have that there are 140 low mileage cars. 65% of 140 = 91 This number goes in the box at the intersection of "less than 75k" and "working ac" |dw:1464904778471:dw|
Let me see if you are catching on here... Can you tell me how many cars have "less than 75k miles" and "non-working ac" ?
