OpenStudy (ricardobenin70):

Write the equation of a hyperbola with vertices at (-4, 0) and (4, 0) and co-vertices (0, 5) and (0, -5).

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I'd suggest that you first sketch this hyperbola. That may give y ou some clues regarding the equation of the hyperb ola. Also, write out the general equation of a hyperbola centered at (0,0). What are "covertices?" "vertices?"

OpenStudy (ricardobenin70):

co-vertices (0, 5) and (0, -5).

OpenStudy (ricardobenin70):

vertices at (-4, 0) and (4, 0)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

It's the other way around, because -5 and 5 are further from the center than are -4 and 4. Are you going to sketch this hyperbola, showin all of the vertices mentioned?

OpenStudy (ricardobenin70):

ok have sketch
