My name is Alex I was born and raised in Europe; I was only 16 years old when I finally had to get out of there. My mom was dying of sickness; and my dad was killed trying to protect us. I was struggling to survive. I tried to keep my mom safe until she finally died I knew I had to get out of there. There was just too much sickness going around and a lot of people didn’t want to help everyone. I was poor and needed food and money, my life there was not easy. My journey to the United States was very long and tiring a lot more people on that boat trying to get out of Europe into a better area were also sick to. I covered my face with another one of my shirts so I didn’t get what they had. Food we got wasn’t all the best but at least we had food in our body. When I was on the boat I met this girl, Ashley she was not one of the sick people there when I saw her, she only had a little piece of bread so I gave her some of mine and we talked for a long time about each other. Landing on the island after 4 days, we had to pass through a lot of process of examination made by officers of the United States Public Health and Marine Hospital Service. I and Ashley stayed together the whole examination, staying side by side. They had to inspect us for all physical weaknesses or diseases which make us liable to exclusion meaning that we can be sent back.
Oh my goodness what is that lol
