OpenStudy (adamk):

What is the perimeter of the figure outlined by the solid line, in terms of x? http://imgur.com/nbX8WZF

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

hint: first step the radius of the circle, is: \(r=(6x)/2=3x\) so the perimeter of the half circle, is: \[\frac{{2\pi \left( {3x} \right)}}{2} = ...?\] please simplify

OpenStudy (adamk):

@Michele_Laino Yes I got that far. pi * 3x

OpenStudy (manas786):

hey adam, here , radius of semicircle = 6x/2=3x now, in any of the two right triangles, height = 4x , base= 3x hence, \[(3x)^2 + (4x)^2 = (hypotenuse)^2 \] (Pythagoras theorem) THus, hypotenuse = 5x also perimeter of semicircle = pi*3x thus, req perimeter = 5x +5x+ 3pi*x =10x +3pi*x please medal.....
