OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

I need help ;-; pls help me I have some parts done Complete the equation of the graphed linear function. Write the slope in decimal form. http://prntscr.com/bcetwd

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

Choose 2 points from the line Btw the y-intercept is incorrect

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

oh dang

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

k give me a sec

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

but the line has to be touching the intercepts ;-; I see only -4 touching the line

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

You can pick any 2 points from the line, not just intercepts

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

ok

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

2-(-3)/ 5 - 1 ? idk i tried ;-;

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

Can you tell me the 2 points first

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

2, 3

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

-3* my bad

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

(2, -3) is not on the line

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

oh no i took two different points

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

You need from the line to find the slope

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

i thought you said dont pick intercepts

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

ANY point from the line works

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

that's what i did though

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

You chose that was not on the line

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

Nvm here let me tell you, you see (0,-4) it's on the line you see (-4,-1) the line passes trough that as well

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

Now we use the slope formula \(\dfrac{-1--4}{-4-0}\)

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

Well yes, -4 was one of my original things I was going to put, but once you said it can't be intercepts, I guess I got confused.

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

I never said you couldn't

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

Oh wait...your right x'D

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

"You can pick any 2 points from the line, not just intercepts" Meaning it doesn't have to be only intercepts

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

I realize that now. But how'd you get -1

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

I chose the ordered pair (-4,-1) because it's from the line?

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

oooooh ok

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

so -1 - (-4)= 3 ---- and -4 - 0 = 4 ?

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

http://prntscr.com/bceyod Which I'm trying to tell you that it has to be from the line, not just anywhere from the graph

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

ok I get it

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

-4 - 0 = -4

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

so the slope is -3/4

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

y = `-3/4`x + `___` now we need y-intercept

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

-4

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

?

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

yes

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

so y = `-3/4` x + `-4`

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

:O oh dang....tysm!!!!

OpenStudy (.mehek.):

You're welcome :)
