OpenStudy (gokuporter):

http://prntscr.com/bct0ih Which reason describes statement 4 in the proof? A.Distributive Property B.Associative Property of Multiplication C.Commutative Property of Multiplication D.Identity Property of Multiplication

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

What are your thoughts? Any choices obviously wrong?

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

I think its commutative

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

D and A are wrong

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

@mjdennis

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

A and D are indeed wrong. The wolfram alpha site says that "the commutative property of multiplication states that two numbers can be multiplied in either order". I don't see the order change in step 4, what I see are that the groupings change, which variable _associate_ with which.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

They made a typo on step 4. The 'c' in the red box should be a 'b'

OpenStudy (gokuporter):

@jim_thompson5910 Weird! It is showing b now http://prntscr.com/bcuh69

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hmm that is bizarre
