Which statement accurately describes Kublai Khan? A. He expanded the Mongol Empire by increasing trade and negotiating treaties. B. After conquering southern China, he ruled over the largest land empire in history. C. He closed off China from all contact with foreigners during his reign. D. In later life, he renounced his throne and lived as a humble monk in Tibet.

OpenStudy (emmily_cool):

will medal and fan

OpenStudy (emmily_cool):

@mehek

jabez177 (jabez177):

Well A and D can be ruled out. A doesn't work because Kublai Khan did not expand the Mongol Empire, it was Genghis Khan. D doesn't work because he NEVER turned out to be a Humble monk.

OpenStudy (emmily_cool):

ok so it is between b and c

jabez177 (jabez177):

Yes. Now try and think back to when you learned about this. Did he Conquer China or close it off?

OpenStudy (emmily_cool):

i hink it is c

OpenStudy (emmily_cool):

*think

jabez177 (jabez177):

Nope. In 1271, Kublai established the Yuan dynasty, which ruled over present-day Mongolia, China, Korea, and some adjacent areas, and assumed the role of Emperor of China. By 1279, the Yuan forces had overcome the last resistance of the Southern Song dynasty, and Kublai became the first non-native Emperor to conquer all of China. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kublai_Khan

OpenStudy (emmily_cool):

it would be b

OpenStudy (emmily_cool):

right?

jabez177 (jabez177):

Yep! :)

OpenStudy (emmily_cool):

yay i have another question

OpenStudy (emmily_cool):
