Calculate the cost of manufacturing a standard cereal box if cardboard costs $0.05 per square inch and the measurements are Length: 8 in Width: 2.5 in and Height: 12 in
I forgot how to do these. Sorry.
That's Okay!
@AmTran_Bus do you know how to do this??
@Bigbosssaint21
do you know the formula for the total surface area of a rectangular prism?
2ab+2bc+2ac??
2×(8×2.5 + 8×12 + 2.5×12)
you were close
basically its 2 x ( ( Length X Width ) plus (length X Height) plus (Width X Height) )
Okay so that's 292. Now what do I do @Bigbosssaint21 ?
thats how many square inches there are in that cereal box, now we can figure out how much money it costs us to make one of those boxes by plugging in that number we got, how would we do that?
Do I multiply the price by the 292?
@Bigbosssaint21
yup
personally i think thats kind of expensive for a cereal box but, whatever
That gives me 14.60 though.
yup
I don't know how that is right and I measured a real box.
What do you think @agent0smith ?
what do you mean?
Find the surface area of the box, then multiply it by $0.05.
I know it can't cost $14.60 to make a box of cereal??
take a real box and flatten it out like this|dw:1465248767874:dw|
