OpenStudy (pphalke):

Sue finds a CD she likes that normally costs $19.99. If the CD is labeled 75% off and the sales tax rate is 5.5% (of the sale price) what will be the total cost of the CD?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

what is 19.99 *.75?

OpenStudy (pphalke):

$14.99

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

then you subtract the answer from 19.99 because it is 75% off aka discount

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

19.99-14.99

OpenStudy (pphalke):

5 dollars

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

Then you get 5.00. Next 5.00*.055=? because sale price is more money added aka tax

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

then add the answer to $5

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

So $5.03

OpenStudy (pphalke):

get 7.75 but that isn't right my book is saying something else

OpenStudy (pphalke):

its 5.28
