OpenStudy (pphalke):

Sue finds a CD she likes that normally costs $19.99. If the CD is labeled 75% off and the sales tax rate is 5.5% (of the sale price) what will be the total cost of the CD? I need re help on this the answer I was given was wrong by a helper

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well start by finding 75% of $19.99

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

that will be how much you save sales price = 19.99 - saving

OpenStudy (pphalke):

14.99? 19.99-14.99 is $5

OpenStudy (pphalke):

how do I get it to the price?

OpenStudy (pphalke):

@campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok so the discounted selling price is $5 so find 5.5% of $5 so the final price = $5 + 5.5% of $5

OpenStudy (pphalke):

I don't know how to find the percent of 5.5

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

it's simply 5 x 5.5/100 = add this amount to the $5 discounted price
