OpenStudy (artchaos):

The point (2, –4) is reflected across the line y = –1. What are the coordinates of the image? A. (–5, –4) B. (–4, 2) C. (2, 2) D. (2, 4)

OpenStudy (artchaos):

Can someone explain what does it means when it says across the line y=-1?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well it is on the opposite side of the line and the same perpendicular distance from the line as the original point..

OpenStudy (artchaos):

so it would be B?

OpenStudy (peachpi):

no.(2, -4) is 3 units below the line y = -1|dw:1465504349258:dw|

OpenStudy (elijahrich1113):

Ok so from what I read y=-1 would be a horizontal line that goes through -1

OpenStudy (peachpi):

reflecting it means moving it to 3 units above y = -1|dw:1465504455254:dw|
