OpenStudy Feedback 18 Online
Atsie (atsie):

I just wanted to say something really quick.....to anyone who stops by and read's this. (I am aware it isn't OpenStudy Feedback and I'm very strict on myself about where to write stuff in whichever sections....but I don't know where else to write this!)

Atsie (atsie):

When I first joined OpenStudy, I was very lets say.....nervous. I was like the new kid in school. (I think we all know that feeling, right?) I am naturally a very insecure person about a lotta things and my education is one of them. I always always feel stupid when I can't achieve or master a subject, I feel like I'll never be good at anything in life, and overall I get the vibe that everyone's laughing at me. I can't stand it when I take seventy five thousand hours just to finish a lesson in math because I don't get it. I can't stand when people leave me alone after awhile because I've driven them crazy with my constant questions and my want to actually try and learn and not be a low-life. All of the above.....it makes me crazy! And so, you probably can understand how insecure and afraid I was when I first joined OpenStudy. I literally had an intense fear for user's that'd come by on my profile with the green 99 attached proudly to their names, and for the moderators that stalked the place in their neon purple, and so forth. I feared all of these people because I thought they were smarter, they were more intensely involved in all of this than I was.....and so therefore I was nothing. But over time, I've learned a lot of things. No matter how insecure I am today, I've learned that in all reality....its okay to be stupid (even though I don't really believe that sometimes). It's okay to be terrible at something. Its all okay. Because being terrible means you get to be better at something else. Today, I am friends with quite a few of the mod's, and I sincerely look up to the 99-ers because they inspire me to work and do my best no matter my position in this big life. Thank you all for being so wonderful and amazing and for surely being there when the pen and paper called, the numbers and variables banged, and the geometric shapes started to swim before my eyes till I became dizzy and frustrated. Thanks for everything you've all done for me. I immensely appreciate it! <3<3

OpenStudy (i_like_to_spam):

OpenStudy (smartestbruh):

Very well-written! :) I understand how you feel, when i was in middle-school I felt the same. But now I graduated high school a year ago and feel free. I love to help in these sites, they make me review and refresh my brain. The first I discovered was OS since I was stuck in High school. The throughout time I found another....MY STORY LOL Well, you seem like an awesome person from my point of view. :) Keep going and walk life don't stop at hard moments.

OpenStudy (smartestbruh):

Atsie (atsie):

@Smartestbruh I'm so glad I wasn't the only one! Thanks for your story, and I will keep going! :)

OpenStudy (smartestbruh):

:D

OpenStudy (mahoganie.carson):

Your story is very inspiring because some people can relate to you even i can relate to you and your right it is okay to be bad at something and this is what this site is for when your bad at a subject people who are good at that subject can help you and really no one can judge anyone because no one is good at everything in the world :) @Atsie

Atsie (atsie):

@Mahoganie.Carson Exactly right! Thats perfectly written. Thank you so much for your response! Its inspiring knowing there are others besides me :)

OpenStudy (mahoganie.carson):

@Atsie Yeah it is know that your not the only one :)

OpenStudy (bunnielover948):

Wow @Atsie I can relate to what you wrote and it's very touching on how much you grew since joining OS. You are one of my closest friends on here, and I'm truly happy that you haven't left me after all the times I drive you crazy :P Everyone starts out not good at something and with practice and time they become better. Just think that at one point all the people you see on this site was in the same position as you (look at all the people at 99ss, they were once at 10ss and freaking out because there were people higher than them) This is very inspiring to look back and to realize that everyone started out the same. You're not stupid...you just need a bit more experience. I may not be best friends with mods, but I am good friends with a couple of the 99ss users (truth be told, the mods still scare me after all this time XD)

Keep up your young spirit and I'll keep up mine and together we can conquer the world! :) @Ashleyisakitty Jake's always had it right from the start! Thank you! ^.^

OpenStudy (addy):

I defiantly feel a connection with what you wrote, @Atsie I felt the same when I joined Open Study. But, now I am becoming more open. It's all thanks to the fans and friends that I have made here... Including you. Thanks for making me feel comfortable. ^_^

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Well said Ats! I felt the same way, but slowly I got to know many people on here, and it got easier. Now i have way more friends than ever. AlthuoghI still feel this way sometimes. I just keep in mind that "Low self-confidence isn't a life sentence. Self-confidence can be learned, practiced, and mastered--just like any other skill. Once you master it, everything in your life will change for the better." Barrie Davenport

Atsie (atsie):

I love that Quote by Barrie! Thank you for posting it! ^.^

ILovePuppiesLol (ilovepuppieslol):

It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness. Without a struggle, there can be no progress. Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

OpenStudy (photon336):

To get good at something. you've heard the over used statement is "practice" but that's most of the story but not the whole thing, because you need people who can answer your questions effectively and also those who are just as motivated with whom you can work with on a regular basis. You also need people who can encourage and support you. I would recommend that you: 1. Get good at Identifying what you don't know. 2. if you can't get a problem after the second attempt seek help. 3. For those problems you get wrong, ask what concepts are being presented in them. 4. keep your work however incorrect it might be and show it to your teacher compare your work to the correct solution. 5. Focus on why your answer was incorrect and why a particular answer is correct. 6. Also, I would recommend a study group too.

OpenStudy (preetha):

I LOVE THIS!Thank you for posting such a moving story Atsie. And everyone else for joining.

Atsie (atsie):

Aww, thank you Preetha! I'm so glad you liked it! Its definitely true in every aspect and I hope people can understand that they are never the only one's in these kind of situations. @Preetha <3<3

HanAkoSolo (jamierox4ev3r):

This was wonderfully said, and honestly how I felt when I first came. As a young high schooler desperately seeking answers, I stumbled across OpenStudy. And the first person to help me was someone who was at a relatively average smartscore of 55. However, their help was so incredibly thorough that I emerged with a complete understanding of the topic I was struggling with. Unfortunately, after that night, I never saw the user ever again. I never got the chance to thank them. But they taught me that every user, no matter the smartscore, always has something valuable to offer. I contribute as a way to give back to the OpenStudy community. Seeing the gratitude of users is very beautiful and profound. That is why this post has caught my attention. I want to say to you that you, as a user, have probably made an impact with others as well. I am grateful for users like you who strive to better themselves and succeed academically. So thank you for this post. I know you will achieve great things in your future.

Atsie (atsie):

@Jamierox4ev3r And thank YOU for being so empowering by sharing your story. You are quite one to look upon as well, because you of course came here with a '0' as a SS score like the rest of everyone and you've worked your way up over the years and now your a moderator! Moderators like you keep the site's wheels oiled and greased and I am in immense appreciation for all that you and the others do! Thanks for all of support and wonderful words! ^.^

rvc (rvc):

Hope we all keep learning and never give up because no one is perfect :)

rvc (rvc):

and yes i agree with @Photon336 :) Do get that habit in your work and im sure u will succeed :)

Atsie (atsie):

Amen to that! @rvc :)

OpenStudy (batmano3):

Awww I think I Have to say for most new users on Openstudy, that we come for help but in the end we receive more than expected. Great friends, great help, great thinking, we get the feeling of acceptance on this site, and if it wasn't for Openstudy, I don't think I would be here right now. This website introduced me to amazing people and amazing helpers. :) It inspires us all in our own way to keep trying harder in our education and to never give up. In a sense we are all one family on this website! <3

Atsie (atsie):

@batmano3 Yes, absolutely! One big huge family and it continues to grow and grow! :)

OpenStudy (batmano3):

@Atsie Agreed :)

OpenStudy (sylph):

Atsie, I loved reading something that shared a genuine story about how much OS has changed your life, rather than a yes-man praise for the site. You really did an excellent job of portraying the experiences many of us had upon first joining the site, and how all of us have grown. I'm really proud of you. \(\large{\heartsuit}\)

Atsie (atsie):

@Sylph I've seen a lot of those yes-man praises myself and I've always felt something was missing. In turn I had wanted to be real and upfront with everybody here and tell how I'm really not the top that I can sometimes put on. I have my insecurities and I'm glad OS has helped me and you grow out of them a bit in the educational realm. Thank you for commenting! That was inspiring to me! :)

OpenStudy (annoying):

i like reading it was good |dw:1465762114247:dw|
