(4) He first became the quaestor of Spain, then the aedile of Rome, then the pontifex maximus under the Consul (McGill 51). (5) Caesar was assassinated on March 15, 44 B.C. (6) Caesar’s sharp political instincts greatly advanced his economic and military power, allowing him to become the sole dictator of Rome in 44 B.C. (McGill 52).

This one is a hard one, but the best way to find the answer is to read the paragraph and see what it mostly focuses on, and take away one statement that might be relevant, but still sort of off-topic, or random.

I would say 5 is correct, because the sentence did not fit in the paragraph and was irrelevant
