jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

start with x = 1 and subtract 1 from both sides to get x - 1 = 0 so if the denominator is x - 1, then you'd have a vertical asymptote at x = 1

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

make the numerator whatever you want as long as it's some polynomial of degree 2 or higher. That will make the graph have NO horizontal asymptotes and have oblique asymptotes instead

OpenStudy (iwanttogotostanford):

is that the whole example? @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah tell me what you get
