@mathmate are you good with verbal functions?
Hint: Verbals are verb forms which act as another part of speech in a sentence (i.e. as adjectives, nouns, and adverbs). Verbal phrases are verbals and any of the verb form's modifiers, objects, or complements. The three types of verbal phrases are participial, gerund, and infinitive phrases. from: Grammar Handbook: Verbals and Verb Phrases - Center for Writing ... www.cws.illinois.edu/workshop/writers/verbals/
ok, thanks!! can you explain what an infinitive is then?? its part of another ? that I want to double check
nvm thanks @mathmate
In English is usually what follows the preposition "to". For example, "To be or not to be" there are two infinitives "be" in the phrase.
The infinitive is also the basic form of the verb, as in most other languages, like "aller" in French, "gehen" in German, etc.
Perhaps this could help, in more general terms: http://www.chompchomp.com/terms/infinitive.htm
Thanks mathmate
