Need help with this question

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

15.80 cm x 36.372 cm / (2.610 cm - 1.01cm) My answer is 359 with sig figs. but it is wrong -_-

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

Hmmm, I get the same value and the least-accurate number has 3 significant figures. Did you try just 359?

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

I tried 359 and 359.2

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@UnbelievableDreams The best way to avoid confusion is to post an image of the question. This will help solve misinterpretation, typos, and gives the context to helpers. If you need help posting an image, please let us know.

OpenStudy (mjdennis):

No clue on this one, sorry. Can you bump it back to the top? @mathmate any thoughts where the problem with significant digits is?

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

Perform the following calculations involving measurements and round the results so they have the correct number of significant figures and proper units.

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

I already posted it. Thank you @mjdennis for trying. :)

OpenStudy (mathmate):

I have the same results as @mjdennis. The image really helps. They ask for scientific notation!

OpenStudy (mathmate):

I suppose you have learned about significant figures. Also, is this physics, chemistry or math? The two former subjects are very severe about significant figures, and 359 (in scientific notation) would have the correct number of significant figures.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@UnbelievableDreams Do you need help with scientific notation?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

421 in scientific notation would be written as\(4.21\times 10^2\)

OpenStudy (unbelievabledreams):

Sorry, internet crashed. I didn't see that. It is for Chemistry. Thank you!
