Select all statments that are true A.) This graph is one to-one B.)f (4.9)=5 C.)f (-3.4)=-4 D.)This is the graph of the absolute value function E.)this is the graph of the greatest integer function. PLEASE HELP!!
any thoughts?
@peachpi I think that E is one of the true statements but I don't know about the others.
@sammixboo
A one-to-one graph means that given any value of x, there is exactly one value of y AND given any value of y, there is exactly one value of x. Look at the graph again and see if BOTH of the above necessary conditions are true.
Hint: greatest integer function of x, denoted by [x] is defined as the greatest integer that does not exceed x. For example, [4.1]=4, [-3.2]=-3, [6]=6, [0]=0, and [-4]=-4. Recall that "greater" means to the right, so [-3.2]=-3. See http://mathbits.com/MathBits/TISection/PreCalculus/GraphGreatestIntFunction.html for more illustrations, examples, and explanations.
