Jim’s statement is correct for all numbers greater then or equal to 0. which it does not work for negative numbers

you can try this with a selection of numbers 0.64, 1.4, 7.98 The floors are 0, 1 and 7. So true for those. Then try -0.78, -1.7, - 12.9 your floors are -1, -2 and -13. Thus the rule does not follow for all negative values of x.
