jabez177 (jabez177):

What is the area of the equilateral triangle? Round to the nearest square centimeter.

jabez177 (jabez177):

jabez177 (jabez177):

How do you do this, @AaronAndyson?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

Area of an equilateral Triangle = \[\frac{ \sqrt 3 }{ 4 }a^2 ; a = 68\]

jabez177 (jabez177):

2002

jabez177 (jabez177):

Wait...

jabez177 (jabez177):

Don't you do square root of 3 first? then square root of 3 divided by 4 then multiply 68^2?

jabez177 (jabez177):

that's how i got 2002

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

Yes,2002.25 cm^2 is the right answer :)

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

\[\frac{ \sqrt3 }{ 4 }a^2\] \[\frac{ \sqrt3 }{ 4 }68^2\] \[\frac{ \sqrt3 }{ 4 }*4624\]

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

So thats sqrt 3 times 1156

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

sqrt 3 = 1.732 1.732*1156 = 2002.25

jabez177 (jabez177):

Ahhh... Thanks! :)

jabez177 (jabez177):

Since it says "Nearest square centimeter" so we just leave it as 2002 :D
