OpenStudy (mattpusey13):

The price of a gallon of unleaded gas has risen to $2.88 today. Yesterday's price was $2.82. Find the percentage increase. Round your answer to the nearest tenth of the percent.

OpenStudy (hedgepig):

so find how much the price of gas changed, and divide by the ORIGINAL price, and multiply by 100 to get your value :) let me know if you have any questions

OpenStudy (mattpusey13):

Thank you:)

OpenStudy (mattpusey13):

I did that but i got something off.

OpenStudy (mattpusey13):

I got 4700 seems wrong

OpenStudy (hedgepig):

okay, can you show me what your work was?

OpenStudy (mattpusey13):

I got 0.06 and and divided by 2.82 and got 0.021276 and multiplied that answer by 100

OpenStudy (hedgepig):

so what did you get after you multiplied by 100?

OpenStudy (shy_boy):

well i guess it would be 2%

OpenStudy (shy_boy):

like by subtracting old price from the new price and then multiplying the answer with hundred and dividing by the older price

OpenStudy (mattpusey13):

I got it correct Thank you all.
