OpenStudy (aliza29faye):

in diffraction experiment a hair is held in a 650nm laser beam. This produces a diffraction pattern on a screen 3m away. The 1st order diffraction line is 12mm from the central spot: A what is the width of the hair? B what will be the approximate distance to the 2nd order diffraction line? (no calculate, estimate) C If a finer (skinnier, narrower) hair is used, will the 1st diffraction line be spaced farther, closer or the same distance from the central spot? D If the green laser is used, will the diffraction lines be closer together, farther apart, or the same distance as with the 650nm case

I'm very sorry, I'm not good with diffraction

Sorry, I am not able to help you on this one. Perhaps @kainui, @abhisar.

OpenStudy (fwizbang):

Can you find the angle between the diffraction line and the central spot?

OpenStudy (kainui):

This is no doubt confusing, but give it your best shot to try to understand this http://physicsed.buffalostate.edu/pubs/StudentIndepStudy/EURP09/Young/Young.html I'm about to eat dinner I'll be back to clear it up for you if you can wait that long haha. If that one seems too confusing, try this one too. https://student.societyforscience.org/blog/eureka-lab/measure-width-your-hair-laser-pointer

OpenStudy (aliza29faye):

I will give them a try. thank you tons @kainui
