2. Determine whether y varies directly with x. If so, find the constant of variation k. 3y = –7x – 18 a. yes; 3 b. yes; –7 c. no d. yes; 7/3 I know how to do this, but this question seems a little confusing. If someone could just explain it to me better?

OpenStudy (lhgraythorn):

My answer choice would be C. just because it seems like it wouldn't have a constant pattern.

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

your answer is good just remember: a direct variation can be written in the form y = kx since 3y = –7x – 18 cannot be written in the form y = kx (because of the -18 part) we do not have a direct variation

OpenStudy (lhgraythorn):

So answer c is correct? y does not constantly vary with x?

OpenStudy (maurticewilliams):

do u still need help

OpenStudy (lhgraythorn):

Well, I just need to clarify that c is the answer, because ik the y does not constantly vary with the x?
